British Columbia is home to one of Canada’s fastest-growing tech sectors. With a strong demand for skilled tech workers, the province offers a special immigration pathway known as BC PNP Tech, previously called the Tech Pilot. This stream was created to help BC employers attract international tech talent when local skilled workers are not available.
BC PNP Tech is part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and targets individuals with experience in one of 29 eligible tech occupations. It allows qualified candidates to receive faster processing and targeted support without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
Faster processing: Weekly draws invite top tech candidates.
Job offer flexibility: A job offer of at least 1 year is required, but it must have at least 120 days remaining at the time of application.
Employer-driven pathway: Applicants need a valid job offer from a BC employer in a qualifying tech role.
Support for permanent residency: Once nominated, applicants can apply for PR through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
